The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program
educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic
disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue,
and disaster medical operations. Using their training, CERT members can
assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event and
can take a more active role in preparing their community.
Kaufman County CERT, Inc. is working to take everyday citizens and give them the training and knowledge to assist their community as a first responder. In fact, in a lot of cases, you might be the very first person that arrives on a disaster or emergency related scene. Partnered with its sponsoring agency, Southern Search & Rescue, Inc., Kaufman County CERT, Inc. is able to provide a larger and extended base of training that is not usually available else where.
Generally, training generally takes 20 hours to complete. This is normally done by hold 8 classes, which last about 2½ hours each. Kaufman County CERT, Inc. does offer to other classes that are shorter in the number of days to complete, but require the same total number of hours. CERT training is great for business, churches, schools, neighborhoods and more. To learn more about CERT and the training classes, just visit the Kaufman County CERT website, using either logo on this page.
